ABOUT
THE ART
Jana creates her Black and White images by using natural light to
photograph architecture and nature as well as the human figure. She
individually prints each photograph using traditional darkroom
techniques on fiber base, mat surface on Photographic paper. She
then selenium tones the custom prints for archival purposes.
Jana enhances her images by selectively adding color to her black
and white photographs. She paints each color piece by hand using
Prisma and Marshal colored pencils, blending the color, with her own
special process, into the emulsion of the photographic paper.
Jana does not usually add color to her images of the human figure.
She does want to distract the intent of the subject matter which is
pure and beautiful on its own.
:: ABOUT THE FRAME
In framing the images, Jana takes her work one step further by using
antique ceiling tile and old wood molding from homes to frame each
photograph. Jana salvages and hand picks every tin and wood piece
for each image. By uniting the two she creates a marriage between
the frame and her photographs. This is done without altering one to
match the other. By mixing all these mediums Jana creates dimension
to her work. The results, like Jana, is a one-of-a-kind original
work of art. |
